Day 1
Arrival in Athens Airport ‘El Venizelos’ where a Manessis Welcome English speaking staff will meet & greet the guests and walk them to their coach. The guests will leave their luggage outside the coach and the driver will load them. Departure via the coastal National Highway towards Aigio town. After an hour we make a short stop at the Corinth Canal. We continue towards Aigio and we reach the Monastery of ‘Panagia Trypiti’. Among the most beautiful and original religious monuments of Greece is the Historical Pilgrimage “Zoodochos Pigi” known as “Panagia Trypiti” of Aigio. It is built in a steep rock of 30m high above sea level, inside a cave. After a short visit we continue to ‘Rouvalis Winery/Oenoforos’. Oenoforos is the company that “bears the wine”, as its ancient Greek name implies (“oenos” means “wine” and “fero” means “bear”). Oenoforos was founded in 1990 and represents one of the leading companies of the Greek wine revival. In 2004, Oenoforos came under the umbrella of the company “Greek Wine Cellars” and has since strengthened its position both in the Greek and the international markets. In this beautiful winery we will experience a wine tasting with a light lunch. Early afternoon arrival at hotel and Check in. Time to relax. Dinner will follow at hotel’s premises.

Day 2
Start your day with a rich and traditional breakfast and be prepared for a trekking tour in the nearby village, but also at the Farm that the hotel owns. Make flowers wreaths and pick up your own vegetables from the Farm (depending on the season) and get back to hotel to take part at a cooking demonstration, followed by lunch.
Relax at hotel premises and take advantage of the free afternoon to practice and exercise horse riding that the hotel offers (extra charge) or book a treatment at ‘The Semantron Little Spa’ (extra charge). During sunset we will visit the town of Aigio and a dinner will follow at a traditional restaurant. Aigio is a historical seaside town, ideal for walking, with plenty of monuments and good food to taste.

Day 3
We cannot leave from the area without experiencing the spectacular mountain railway “Odontotos” Diakofto – Kalavrita. The route from Diakofto to Kalavrita with the famous train “Odontotos” is an amazing experience. The distance is 22km and about an hour with the train. The route starts from Diakofto and the train crosses the Vouraikos Gorge until it ends up to Kalavrita. The train makes a stop at Mega Spilaion (Big Cave) where is the homonym historical monastery of Mega Spilaion. During this amazing route you have the opportunity to admire the natural beauty of this gorge and the waterfalls which are formed by Vouraikos River.
Arrive in Kalavryta village. The name Kalavrita means “Good waters” in Greek. The natural beauty of this historical village amazes the visitor. Here you will find the Monastery of Agia Lavra which is considered to be the place where the Greek War of Independence started in 1821. Kalavrita is also known due to the German occupancy in 1943. Specifically in 13th December of 1943 the German army executed all the men of the village and completely destroyed the village afterwards. This historical event is known as one of the biggest atrocities of the German army during the World War II and the visitor can still see the location of the sad event. Today Kalavrita is a popular destination especially during the winter as it has one of the largest ski centers of Greece.
Lunch will take place at a traditional tavern as we will taste the local products of Kalavrita, like the famous feta cheese of Kalavrita, handmade pasta, legumes and wild herbs.
We continue to the Cave of the Lakes Kastria. The cave of the lakes Kastria is an amazing natural creation. It is actually divided into three caves, which are connected to each other with lots of corridors surrounded by strange stalactite formations. The cave is actually a long, subterranean river which forms a lot of small lakes. The cave is about 2,000m long but you can walk only the 500m. Late afternoon return to hotel for a Dinner at hotel’s premises.

Day 4
In our last day in the region of Aigio we will drive towards Lake Doxa. A lake with an unusual history, surrounded by dense forests of pine, fir and chestnut trees and by small traditional villages that have not forgotten the meaning of “tradition”. We continue to Stymphalia village, where we will visit the ‘Environment Museum of Stymphalia’, whose aim is to show the interdependence of mankind and Nature, focuses on their harmonious coexistence in the Stymphalia basin. Its objective is to raise the public’s ecological awareness and preserve the knowledge of the region’s traditional technology. The Environment Museum of Stymphalia is located on the slope of one of the verdant hills surrounding Lake Stymphalia where, according to mythology, Hercules confronted and slew the Stymphalian birds. The Environment Museum of Stymphalia provides information on the region’s environment and its importance. Stymphalia belongs to the European Network of Protected Areas NATURA 2000. Lake Stymphalia and Mount Zireia are of great ecological value. They communicate through underground, as well as visible water routes, defining the aquatic basin of Stymphalia, the largest mountain lake of the Peloponnese. It also constitutes the southernmost mountain wetland of the Balkans, with rich flora and fauna.
Light lunch will follow at a traditional tavern in Stymphalia village before we head back to the coastal National Highway towards Athens. After a distance of 2 hours we reach Athens Airport ‘El Venizelos’, for a flight back home!
